Title: Need hydro-vac slave cyl. spring
Post by: 8683jb on October 22, 2017, 10:32:03 PM
I need a Bendix hydro-vac slave cylinder spring. This is the one that explodes out the front and tries to put your eye out as the last thread is unscrewed on the large plug on the front of the slave cylinder. The Bendix P/N is A282613. Does anyone have one to sell or know of a source for one similar? It has a free length of 11-1/2”, the O.D. is 13/16” and the wire is .046”. I haven't had any luck searching the internet. Thanks.

Hi Jon

Did you have any luck finding one of these springs?  Mine was rusted into the bore in the slave cylinder and came out twisted when I finally got it apart, so I am on the lookout for one to.

I never found one Darryl. I wound up machining a short close-tolerance sleeve with a ring inside that slipped over both ends of the broken spring and was small enough to slide inside the slave cylinder bore. Once it’s all assembled the spring is captured and the broken ends just push against the next coil as if they were still connected. Seems to work fine. If I run across any real springs, I’ll let you know. Good luck.
