Title: Starter gasket?

Gentlemen:
Silly question, but I can't find a definite answer in any of the books...
Is there a gasket between the engine and the starter?
And, if there is, is it metal or cardboard/felt?

Shouldn't have a gasket, You want your starter to ground.
