Title: Shock absorber questions
Post by: autocar925 on February 26, 2019, 04:58:21 PM
I've never serviced the shock absorbers. I assume you disconnect the links and work the shocks to see if they have any resistance. Any recommendations on what type of oil to use? If they leak, how much is involved in replacing any seals? Lastly, I'm assuming the rubber bushings in the link ends are rotted. Any ideas on where I could find something to replace them?

Just looked at links and realized they don’t have rubber. Any tips on breaking the link studs free from their attachment points?

I sent mine to Apple Hydraulics. They came back like New.

Apple Hydaulics is where it's at!
They do great work, and have a quick turnaround!

As far as the rubber bushings go you can give a polyurethane chaulk a try that’s what I tried with mine . Don’t know how long it’ll hold up. Do a search for making your own engine mount and poly should come up. Can’t remember witch chaulk I used sorry

Rod Shaver has NOS rubber bushings to go in the shock links. I never replaced mine. Looks to be quite the job though.
