Title: Looking for a halftrack to restore
Post by: bms07 on March 09, 2011, 04:27:15 PM
Im looking for a halftrack to restore. The more there the better. I have restored a M274A5, M816 and a M925A1. The M274A5 and the M925A1 were frame of restoration. I have always wanted a halftrack. Now its time for the halftrack. Any info on one would be most appreciated. Thanks Brad

welcome brad
i dont know of any up that way. one good way to find them is to do a google search with your state name and the word halftrack also include -hobby -diecast -scale -rc -german -general
this will weed out toy manufacturers and model builders. you may find other people in your area with them and they may be the best source for purchase. the closer the better

It didn't look too bad. The cab interior was in excellent shape. The engine was free. I believe it was a roller model turned into a winch track. I didn't buy it but it is off the market. The guy had a ton of old Caterpillers. I wish I had cash I'd of bought one of the military D-7's he had or the D-4.

someone welded a back wall and a top on it and mounted a roof gun mount for a M113 on it. About as ugly as it gets lol

Yes that must be it. It looked like some kind of 1/2 round tank! Was having trouble visualizing what it did.
