Title: Front dif seal
Post by: Cleprechaun on April 19, 2020, 08:13:17 PM
I’m not having much luck finding the front cork dif seal #A174608. I’m thinking I might have to make a neoprene one

Is this for a White or International? Check with Kevin Lockwood.

OK, I see it is for a White HT. The dimensions are in the parts book. If there is enough interest I can get new ones made by my gasket supplier. Let me know is I should do this.

I’m using .149 “O” ring material cut to fit and superglued which I have done on other projects. .149 is slightly smaller than the original cork (.158?) but is seems to fit perfect with plenty sticking above the surface. The Duralast boxes you see here contained the trans drive shaft seals and the front diff pinion seal. These are cross referenced from other part numbers I found on this website (thank you all!). These seals seem to fit well but are of a different design than the originals and are not as deep as the originals, but this lack of thickness might be a blessing to a guy who has worn or pitted shafts because he can possibly place the seal at a depth that seals on a undamaged part of his shaft. I will let you know if all this works.

Drove it a couple miles to a gas station and let it set there while I answered all normal questions from the customers. There wasn’t a single drop of oil or grease on the ground  from any of the seals or front wheel boots. I guess Duralast seals are fine and only cost about $40 for all three (front diff, and both drive shaft seals on trans).
