Anyone have instructions?

Yes, just happened to do mine a few minutes ago. Connect battery and I had my ignition on. Have a short wire and quickly touch the top two connections in the photo. You’ll hear a click and you’re done.

I see that you're already getting contradictory responses between the different places you asked this question. I can't remember the correct way to polarize ours; however, I can tell you one thing for certain. There are two typical charging systems out there in the world. I think they are called A and B. The contradictory responses you are getting is because each style of charging system requires a different way of polarizing. Again, I don't remember which style the halftrack has. I used to know, back when I was searching the internet to learn how to polarize the generator in our truck. But, I'm getting old and I guess I've replaced that info in my brain with something else. Just an fyi.

Take a look at this link. I'm pretty confident we have a "B" circuit since the brushes in a halftracks generator are not insulated.

I’m getting my info from TM 9-710. Para 99. c (4)

Yea, Smadge. Others were telling him the other way on Facebook. I was just hoping to explain whey there were differences.

Ok, got it. Have a good one.

Thanks for posting the TM. My Vintage Wiring instruction book says to go to the battery and the armature terminal. I checked my TM and as you have posted, use the field terminal.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help!!

I just did it Smadge's way last week. It worked great and the generator's output increased dramatically and the Ammeter showed much greater charging. Entire Track runs better too!
