Those of you that have done your fenders what did you wind up doing. Either buying the nos stuff from someone or using the viral stuff, if so what did you use.thanks.

What’s the purpose behind the welt? I assume it’s an anti squeak device but I see it as another place to trap moisture. Although I took my fenders off yesterday and the original welt although beyond use, hadn’t caused much in the way of corrosion so I assume it was waxed on oiled.

I think the originals where rubber coated canvas. The welting was a quick wat to bridge panel gaps back then a lot of the older cars and trucks used them. I watch your project with great anticipation. Good luck with it. I bought Paul’s rear body mounts they where great.

I talked to them he wanted $75 for them just looking for something cheaper.

They are pre notched to go around mounting bolts. I think it is a fair price. They also have the radiator welting and mud flaps. Well worth the prices in my opinion. Also of note. in many cases the fender welting was dropped on all models in later production runs.

I got my welting kits from SOS Military. The fit was very good and looked great too.

My 1943 Autocar m15a1 showed no signs of welting, so I assembled it without any.

I picked up some sown vinyl welting from eBay, will see how it turns out. Thanks guys
