Title: Did they all go to war?
Post by: Cleprechaun on May 03, 2021, 11:31:35 PM
Does anyone know just how likely our Halftracks were to see action in the war(s)? Did many never make it overseas, and instead just set out the war? I’d like to think my 1943 m15a1 was in the fight (WWII KOREA). Your thoughts.

NO way to know for sure! Sadly. Most were certainly never sent overseas. They were used at various Forts/Camps for training purposes. Some stationed at various Forts or Airfields for other uses. Certainly: some were brought back to the states from Europe/UK as we prepared to invade Japan, how many??? Even post war units would train here and when deployed (called gyroscoping) they would send only the troops. Trading vehicles with the unit they were relieving.
