Why are these different and which one should I restore for my M3A1?

Are you sure thats not a left and a right side? The right side points more straight out then the left because of the way the pipes go out.

Yeah, pretty sure.  The driver side is shaped differently.  And, the cable attachment point is on the same side on each of these.
