Title: Engine rpms
Post by: emptyhead on July 21, 2024, 08:51:22 AM
Had the halftrack up to 40 mph going down the one of the bigger hills by me and and the tach was running around 3200 3300. What were the engine rated to top out at “safely “. I’ve heard of guys getting up to around 45 and I don’t know how they are doing it. So anyone have it somewhere in their tm what the safe rpm ranges are. 30 to 35 is what I’m comfortable with here on ny roads but it is kind of hilly around here. Also in 4th gear the engine just won’t pull any tips. Thanks.

I'm truly curious why some folks are so interested in the top speed of an antique?
I rarely let Bertha hit 30 and she is very happy around 25mph.

I have no doubt she'd run 45 down a hill.......but why?

Besides, cruising around slowly lets folks have a much better look at her!!!  ;)

Slowly yours,
Keith
