Anyone have any good close up shots of the browning m2 mounted on a m2a1 or m3?

Andy,

Here are some photos of the M49 MG ring, trolley, ammo box and mount from original manual:

These are pictures from BMGparts.com which has most of these parts on stock:

Rear MG pintle socket mounts. These are getting hard to find. They use the same .30/.50 combo
mount, but the U yoke used in these is not the straight leg type.

M49 ring, trolley, mount (note straight leg) and ammo box:

Skate trolley parts:

I have found out that the prices of these parts is lower in Europe, specially in Holland. But shipping
to US will most likely offset that savings.

Those side sockets will take any MG cradle. I use the 1917A1 tripod cradles in mine.  I have also seen pictures of the 1928 style cradles, it lookes like they have a long tail, being used in period pictures.

Just to update this a bit more, I finally hunted down all the m49 parts. There is a bracket at the front of the pulpit, and was told it holds the bmg barrel. I cant seem to find a pic of how it works anywhere?

I think you have that bracket upside down.

Andy,
where did you find the pulpit armor and brackets?
I have everything else, just looking for that to complete my installation.
Thanks

That barrel clamp is not supposed to be there. The M49 ring mounts on top of that large side bracket with the 3 holes.

There is a period photo in Hunicuts book which shows an overview of an early halftrack and this barrel clamp can be seen there.

Here is a photo I found of an original pulpit with barrel clamp in place. Hope this helps.

Andy, I should rephrase. If I am not mistaken, the M49 ring mounts on top of that side bracket where your clamp
bracket is now. Would be interesting to see a more clear photo how the M2 BMG barrel is clamped to a downward
angle like that.

If you need NOS trolley parts, you can try to contact Hans in Belgium. His email is: autocar (at) skynet dot be
Also Sir surplus shop (or similar name) was offering NOS stripped trolleys for a fair price not long ago.
