Title: SCR 506 radio
Post by: Dinadin on December 17, 2011, 08:17:22 PM
I was given a fairly complete BC-653-A Transmitter for the SCR-506 radio and I was wonder if these were used on halftracks.  I would love to get it all working again and have it on my track.  I waited to long and missed out on a transmitter that was on buy it now on Ebay.

Rich,
To answer your question, yes, the SCR-506 was used in halftracks...along with, at least, the
SCR-193
SCR-508
SCR-528
SCR-608
SCR-510
SCR-610
RC-58

Rich,

It's hard to tell from this photo but it shows there was a 506 in my halftrack, along with another radio and a fax machine. I have the TM for installinng the radios and there are mountintg holes where the radios once were.

Is that manual for installing a radio into the M2?  I have seen that one for sale on ebay.

Rich,

The TM that I have is TM11-2718, Installation of radio and facsimile equipment in car,half-track M2A1. It is dated June 1945 and has installation directions for the noise suppression kit, fax equipment rc-58, radio sets scr-193,284,506,508,528,608,510,610 and 593. It includes lists of the radios and equipment used to install the different radio sets and their locations.
