Title: Bridge Weight markings

 When my brother and I first got our halftrack there was a yellow painted square bridge weight indicator on the passenger side fender with 9/10 as the weight class. I know that it was a M16 but I've only seen the round style before. So what gives. post war marking?

I have the same square bridge plate on mine. When I questioned it several years ago Joe Demarco said that the square one's are early, and the round ones were later.

Thanks, That's good to know. Joe seems to think mine would of have been one of the 110 T10E1 20 mm gun carriages accepted as "chasis only" in March, 1944 and turned into a M16s later.

My M2 i could not find any bridge markings when i stripped it down. Would they have been on fender still with the headlamp in the way? I have seen 1 on passenger front cab side once.
Cant say i have seen bridge markings on M2 with fender headlamps at all.. Help

 My White M2 had a rectangle painted bridge mrkg with the 10/9 mentioned in this thread. It was below the hdlp guard for the fender mtd hdlp. extending down to the fenders edge.

Round markings With fender headlamps and then with the pedestal.  I have never seen the rectangular style in a WW2 photo.  Was it post war?? 


2nd photo was from a documenatary movie I found on line where a family is filming their father returning to Normandy.  He was a halftrack driver in the I&I platoon in the 67th Regimental HQ

Notice both vehicles are marked 67th Armor HQ-21.  "Nickie" is a regimental vehicle and I assume that the other one is from one of the maneuver battalions - I assume 2nd BN because I have another photo of the halftrack with the speed number of 2-30 and the name  TRES MAL

Anyone know....

What is the diameter of the round bridge plate circle, and what is the height of the number?  It's not addressed in any pubs, as far as I can find anyway.

9 " circle in yellow
3 1/2" number in black
