Title: White AX160 Vs White super power mustang
Post by: KC on September 08, 2012, 03:37:06 PM
Hello all,
What differance is there between a halhtrack AX160 and a mid to late 40s White mustang engine? I know the mustang does not have the external oil cooler and the head is cast with the mustang name. My main concern is if the blocks are the same. I have a chance to get one out of an old White truck being scrapped.
Thanks, KC

I had one installed in my halftrack. As you said the head is different as is the carb, it has twin exhaust pipes coming out of the manifold, bell housing is different will need to switch bell housings. From what I understand the block is the same 386 cui design just restamped. The guy who put the mutant in my track had to make up the rear mounting with two small pieces of 1/4 plate to make up the inch or two difference in the bell housing. Good with everything.
