I am trying to put the center piece of my hood on. The front hinge bolts are not in the correct place to miss the mteal parts on the top of the radiator. Has anyone else had this problem? I have looked at pictures of other vehicles and they all seem to look similar. I think I may need to notch out the piece in top of the radiator to clear the hinge bolts. I do not remember this piece being a problem before. I am wondering if I put something together wrong. Any input would be helpful.
Thanks Henry

This is close up of bolt in hinge. Clearly no room for a nut. And hood piece is touching top of radiator.

Looks to me like your radiator is sitting too high. The clearance is close, but if my memory serves me correct ( I would have to look at my ht for sure) I believe the radiator should be at least 1/4" lower, and possibly up to a 1/2" lower. I would check your mounts and pads on the bottom and make sure it's all stacked it the right order.

There should also be a shim between the hood center and the armor on top the radiator. It is about an 1/8" thick if memory serves me. That will help a little. You can also adjust the rad sppt rods on either side to lean the radiator back a bit more.

Check and see if your other hood armor pieces line up with the center piece, you may have to turn it around. Also like Kevin said there is a shim, it mirrors the set up on the fire wall end of the center piece.

I took a look at mine and it is really close but looks like it has a little more room than yours.
Leaning it back might help as someone else one of the other guys suggested.
Good luck, your work looks great so far.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I checked and the fan is very close to the shroud and the radiator so I cannot move the radiator down or back much. I will try to put a thinner pad under the radiator base on the frame. and the missing shim under the armor will help. I should gain 1/4". Am also wondering about raising the "grill?", the piece with the louvers by shimming it on the frame. I will try that and see how many holes dissapear. I should be able to gain another 1/4". Thanks again for the help. This site is a great resource.

Henry,
I think the side support rods need a little adjusting. This will allow the radiator to lean back a bit. I won't lower is at the bottom as that is fixed. The fan may also fit better in the opening by doing this. See photo of Don's halftrack.

Also, I was thinking of the possibility that you may have the center hood piece reversed. I took some pictures of mine today with measurements of the front hinge. The hing location are different from the front and back. See photos.
