Post by: WayOffTrack on May 07, 2014, 04:19:06 PM
Anyone done this? Any advice or specs appreciated. Btw if anyone needs bearings and seals Col. Halftrack is a great one stop shop.

Here this is from TM9-1710 bottom of page 52 and 53:
5) Replace outer bearing cone-press, pipe collar. Dip bearing
in lubricant, spinning rollers to lubricate thoroughly. Press onto
shaft.
(6) Replace bearing lock nuts—l 1/4-inch open end wrench. Install
spacer and adjusting nut up tight to be sure all bearing surfaces
seat, and then back off until cage can be turned but will not spin on
shaft. Install new lock washer and draw up lock nut securely, checking
adjustment to be sure it has not changed during, locking operation.
Back off adjusting nut slightly, if necessary.
(7) Replace companion flange—press, 1 1/2-inch socket wrench. Install
cork washer and outer seal retainer in position and press
companion flange onto shaft. Lock flange to shaft with nut and
cotter pin.

As outsider has pointed out but after using the wrench to tighten, i loosen nut then tighten the nut by hand
