Title: Torque settings for frame members
Post by: WayOffTrack on June 14, 2014, 08:08:26 AM
Probably a dumb question but I'm bolting stuff on a halftrack frame like the front winch bumper, rear double coil spring idler brackets and the bogie support housing and front motor mounts, tow hooks, etc. Should I torque those to a certain value or just as tight as I can get and call it good?

On a side note it looks like White riveted the front motor mounts and Autocar bolted them. Not sure what Diamond-T did.

On mine I just tightened all that on, also used lock tite on all of the bolts.

Yep i could never find torq specs so either air gun them on if big bolts or hand tighten if small. On some if you are worried you can find generic bolt torq specs online

as others have posted
i just crank them down. i think you are referring the the 5/8 bolts. it would be hard to over tighten them.
