Engine Removal
« on: September 21, 2011, 05:45:33 PM »
I am having trouble getting the engine apart from the transmission.  Limited equipment have me using a lot of brute force.  Definitely not my preferred method, but sometime you gotta use what you have.  Anyone have some advice or tricks to simplify the process.  :(

Hello,

I pulled my trans off of the engine first, but I took mine all apart. If the trans input shaft is not stuck try using a couple of jacks to change the engine and/or trans angle. They may just be binding on each other. Sometimes just the slightest change and they slip apart, so jack a little and try, wiggle a little,etc.. An extra set of hands is a big help. Good luck ,let us know what works.

Before unbolting transmission from engine you should press the cluch in and from below insert 2 wedges between the throw out bearing and pressure plate. This will allow the linkage to clear as you slide the transmission off. This step is what most people forget to do.
