Driving uphill
« on: February 13, 2011, 09:23:49 PM »
Does anyone else have a problem driving uphill when the tank has 5 to 10 gallons in the tank?  I have a reproduction tank which came with my track and I was wondering if correct fuel tanks also have that problem?

I had that problem once, but it was due to my fuel pump going bad. I could drive on level ground or downhill because the tanks were higher than the pump, it would gravity feed. However once I tried to go up an incline, it would crap out.

I think my problem is that it starts sucking air when I am at a certain incline and fuel level.  I think it is because of the particular way that tank was made.  I was curious if correct tanks had that problem also.  The fuel pump shouldn't be an issue, I am using a electric one.

I believe the draw tube on an original tank goes in from the end to the center so as to mitigate this problem. I thought I had a pic looking in the top of an original tank showing that, but I cannot find it right now. When we made my new fuel tanks we did insert a draw tube that runs to the center of the tank right near the drain.
