I bought a 1108533 starter from Spidermarine, it will not work. The description says "offset gear reduction", it is not, it replaces offset gear reduction. The drive is 10 tooth but is a smaller diameter than the halftrack starter and will not work.

Has anyone came upon an aftermarket starter that will work for us? I seem to be in need of one.
Thanks-Michael

Try looking for a starter that is used on a perkins diesel. That is the type that was fitted to my vehicle when I bought it and it was a direct drive version. You may need to modify a mounting plate spacer to fit. Don't know the model number as the model number plate is missing although it does have the number marking LG4 on the case near the pinion drive end. And yes it worked very well till I took the engine apart and is now still stored in my workshop.

After an online search I have found the type of starter that was fitted to my engine and know will work.

Model - ISKRA 11131315

or model - 1447834M91 ( Perkins Diesel ).

Same starter different numbers.

scotty71, How thick is the spacer plate?

The correct plate thickness is needed to make the starter gear engage the ring gear on the fly wheel properly.

i did a search on the delco site with the specs in the TM 9-1711 page 133
Part Number 1108533   supersedes to 1108469

Model: 10MT
Volts: 12
Pinion Teeth: 10
Pinion Pitch: 8/10

http://catalog.remyinc.com/Product/Results?page=0&component=Starter&searchType=unit&productType=starter&filter=1&voltage=12&model=6&teeth=10&pinionpitch=8/10

the only one  from that site is 1109390
this does not have the gear reduction
it is obsolete but you can still buy them at other places

and those places list other interchange numbers
DELCO 1107798, 1109378, 1109390
REMY 61906

the bellow have a  different type solenoid . i think its clocked ?????? i cant figure it out... they may not work but maybe someone will give them a try.
