Brake return springs
« on: June 04, 2015, 04:57:57 PM »
Hi All,
I'm at the point where it's time to start putting the brakes back together, and am in need of the brake return springs. I have 1 good one, and 3 broken ones. Might as well replace all 4.
No luck going to my local NAPA and O'reillys for an exact replacement, but I did find something close and ordered them from O'reillys to see if might work.
Anyway. Does anyone know of an off the shelf item that might be able to obtain locally? G067-06-02050 A214972  LO-FC-2208 are the respective numbers.
I tried a quick google, but to no avail.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I'm sending you a PM as steve0 doesn't like Gary's name mentioned but did you try him? How about Rod Shaver or David Yamila? Is it the return spring for the brake shoes or brake pedal? Worse case senario is we might want to get some made if their is enough interest. I think I know someone that can do this but have no idea how much.

Hi Guys,
Yeah I've not tried Rod or David. I just don't like paying $20 bucks a piece for something that I know can be had cheaper.
The M35 springs are about a half an inch too short, and I think may be a lighter gauge wire too.
The guys at the parts store seemed to think I would need a "black" spring, and indeed there is remnants of black paint on my one good spring.
The springs I ordered from O'reillys were $4.40 each, and just a little too long at 9 inches, but I think they could be shortened easy enough.
If they don't work out, I'll try Rod or David.
Thanks,
Mark

What springs did you end up with?  I need new ones for mine too!

Thanks,
