After getting some good feedback from forum members about the speedometer faceplate decals and odometer decals I have produced some decals for the White Halftrack/Scoutcar cluster gauges. These decals have been sized and produced to exactly match the four original gauges.
Many Halftrack and Scout Car owners have had working gauges that just need the faceplate restored. This is a good low cost way to freshen up those working gauges.
This is also a good option to allow you to use a gauge in your cluster that isn't original but can be adapted to work and look right with this correct decal applied.
Included in each set are decals for each of the gauges: fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and ammeter.
These are a clear decal and in preparation for their application, you will need to clean up and paint the existing gauge faceplate to match the original aluminium colour.
If you are going to remove the faceplate from the gauge for painting, you will see that some of the faceplates have screws holding them on while others have a small rivet.
If they are screwed on, the removal will be relatively easy. If they are riveted, you will need to remove that rivet to get the faceplate off and replace it with a fine screw to hold it on again. I haven’t tried this and it may be tricky.
Alternatively you could just leave the faceplate on, carefully mask the gauge pointer, and simply spray the faceplate in situ.
You can then apply these clear decals over the top of the painted surface and trim them to size. They are cut to the same shape as the originals but there will be some trimming required around the edges and in the opening where the gauge pointer is. I suggest you cut this opening in the decal where the pointer is before you remove the backing paper as the decal is sticky.
Some of the gauges have two 'stoppers' that limit the travel of the needle. I suggest you trim the decal to go around these if you are not confident about punching a small hole through the decal to allow for these guides.
