Someone educate me on the M45

Can some one expand on the differences between M45 quads. What would be correct for an M16 (I’ve seen the M45F on the M16A2).

From what I understand there’s an M45C, M45D and M45F. What’s the differences?

On an M20 trailer it became the M55, was this used in WW2 (I thought they were) as a web site I found suggested they were introduced post war.

On a M17 trailer it became the M51

And lastly, there a step on the back of the M45 installed to the M16, does anyone know of any drawings for this? Or know of one for sale?

Thanks Michael, we’re still planning on coming out, I’m due to arrive on the 1st of Feb and then isolate for 14 days. Hopefully we won’t be limited on travelling beyond the city limits but with 6 weeks to go, anything can change.

The F model includes a communication module and charging setup off the halftrack system.  It requires a slipring and conduit run under the halftrack on the frame.  Would be glad to support you if your interested.  My track is currently on display at the National Museum of the US Air Force, but I have total access to it and plenty of room at my home in Cincinnati OH if you want to consider a visit.  Try tracking down a copy of TM 9-2010 dtd Dec 53.  It has a complete breakdown of all the turret models M45, M45C, M45D and M45F.
