This is probably a dumb question but when I bought my track the tach cable wasn't connected. Where does the cable connect to on the engine?

No such thing as a dumb question! The tach drive is on the distributor.

That's what I thought but my distributor must have been replaced because there is not spot for it.

Search around ebay. You can get brand new distributors for less than $100. Watch out though, some on ebay want big money for them so be patient.
