The noise while driving
« on: October 09, 2022, 05:47:43 AM »
Ok so I’ve got about 150 miles on the halftrack and was wondering how noisy you guys tracks are while driving. When I get it up to around 35 it a bit of a rattle trap. I’m sure as i goes back and make tighter and tighter loops on the maintenance side of it I can reduce it a little. Still enjoy driving it around town. Farthest I’ve drove was 20 mile round trip and no issue.  Thanks .

Get used to the rattles. I even went so far as putting thin felt tabs everywhere I could think of and it didn't really help.

It wouldn’t be a halftrack without rattles. It keeps the driver alert and reduces operator complacency if it sounds like it’s going to blow up at any moment.

Yes.....they are a BIT noisy. I've put a couple of hundred miles on mine and while the engine/tracks are pretty quiet, the vibration brings everything else "to life".
A normal conversation is impossible.....but shouting still works well.
It really gets going above around 10mph. Up to that point she's pretty quiet.
Parade speed...2nd gear low range...is very quiet and the lack of noise really surprises folks.
I tell them it's so you can sneak up on the bad guys easier!!

Definitely got noise, rattles, and vibration. Zelda’s sweet spot in cruising is about 30 mph. I have about 500 miles on her now!
