plywood supports fuel tank

looking for advice, I have a M2A1 and information on this forum stated that plywood for the fuel tanks is 1/2 inch thick, information from TM 9-710 states it is 1/4 inch thick.  Does anyone know which is right.

Also looking for fuel tank covers.
