I believe that is a winterization cover for the quad generator, might have a heater. Same thing for the cab its a winter kit.

Hi. I need some help on how to mount and setup my winterization kit for a M45F quad for my M16A1.
The only reference I could find is the photo below that shows it mounted behind the quad. I'm not even sure if this was for the operator or the lil joe engine itself?
It looks like it was set to be hinged on the drivers side and unlatch from the passengers side so it can swing open.
Would these heaters take gas or diesel fuel?
See the last photo of a SS tank with two brass threaded fitting, any idea what connected to these and where they would have gone? I've been looking for a digital copy of TM 9-2855 in hopes they may show this but no luck as of yet.
Any insight or thought on this heater, mounting or operation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Jim

So I found this which is a possibility? A battery heater pad that gets piped to a heater similar to mine. Would make sense since the quad runs off of batteries right? Any thoughts?
Does anyone have TM 9-2855?

Here's another pic I found. Looks like it was held away with some side brackets.

Big thanks to Patrick at Portrayal Press for this clear photo!
This gives me a much better chance of fabricating the piece I need.
Has anyone seen a "cap" like what's on the left side?

that appears to be an M-series slave receptacle for the jumper cables.  they should be pretty easy to find.

Interesting, I am not familiar with them. What is their purpose and function?

Has anyone seen a "dispersing" head on the exhaust pipe like that before?

One thing on this photo I just can't figure out is what that strange item is on the bottom right of the photo directly above the right rear jack stand?!? Any thoughts?

The "dispersing head" on the end of the exhaust pipe is a really old style muffler. Haven't seen any thing similar since I was a kid, and yes, that was a long time ago.

Slave cable plugs are for jump starting. No need to figure out what terminal is which on the batteries. All you need to do is plug each end into a vehicle and presto! All set to jump start. No sparks exploding the battery in your face either.

Thanks Steve.
I wonder why they added a slave plug.
The quad has batteries and it's own charger.
The heater needs 12V to run so perhaps it's connected to the slave receptacle and run from an auxiliary battery and not the quads?
I am thinking these heaters were just used to keep everything warm until the quad was used then they would remove? Otherwise where would the cannoners stand?
So many questions still but I'm determined to figure this out.
