WTB Winch PTO lever with good knob or replacement knob.
« on: June 23, 2024, 07:57:57 AM »
Mine finally broke apart. Looking to see if anyone has a knob or lever with the knob. Alternately would like to know if anyone knows of a suitable replacement know. It looks to me like the knob was is not replaceable and the military probably just replaced the whole PTO lever if the knob broke. If I can't find any thing I might have my son 3d print one or we might make a mold to mold a new one around the lever.

The knob just screws on, I suspect what you are seeing is the steel insert inside the knob, stuck on the lever. You just need to heat the insert and unscrew with some mole grips. There is a list of modern replacement knobs on this forum.

Thanks. I should be able to remove it then. I had not tried as it shattered just the other day. I will look through the list of knobs and see what one I want to replace it with. I may still mold one to match onto the threaded insert it there is not one exactly right. If I do I will post about it. My son is great at making stuff like this happen and I want it to either be or look legit.

Thanks
Chuck

Using the link, you provided and the description there I found two at McMaster Carr. I like them a lot better than Granger for hardware stuff. They have everything and ship fast. One knob is smooth round and the other has a hash pattern around the middle. Mine had grip serrations around the middle of the know. The McMaster Carr one has the same serrations. Although is it no completely round. I am getting both to see which one I like better and may still have my son create one exactly like the one we had on ours.
