Cranking Motor replacement parts
« on: November 05, 2024, 01:29:37 PM »
My Pinion and Shaft assembly for the Starter on the Halftrack cranking motor has a broken spring.  Does anyone know an interchangable part for the the pinion and shaft or at least the spring?  The Pinion and shaft assembly is Delco Remy part number 1887893.  That number is obsolete but hopefully someone knows an part that can replace it or the spring.  Thanks for any help.

New replacement springs are available. I always keep a spare in the glove box. All I remember is that I got it on ebay. It came. With the bolts and locks.

Hi Jesse,

Thank you for the link.  Unfortunately that spring is not the correct one.  It is a part in the cranking motor.  That number in the Ord 9 is A215035.  The one I need is the Pinion and Shaft assembly that has the spring as part of the assembly.  That assembly's Ord 9 number is A215032 (Delco Remy 1887893).

Thank you so much for taking the time to try and find the part needed.  I greatly appreciate your efforts.

Sincerely, Mike

Hey Jesse,
I went back to look at that spring for the cranking motor that you gave me the Ebay link for.  Further down that page, there were items that might be of interest.  Right there was the part I was looking for!  The Shaft and Pinion with built in spring.  I can't wait to get it in and hopefully have a fully functional cranking motor soon!  Thanks again for all your help!!
