Odd and Ends I've been working on.

Here are some photos of some odds and ends projects I have been working on to finish my HT.


50 / 30 cradles. This is the same cradle that is used with the early AA ground mounted setup. I have to have the pintle pins made yet and weld them to the yokes.

Rear door latch rods.

Rich, Thanks. I should have a couple left over. I need 6 and we didn't want to run short so we started making 10, but only lost one in the production process. So I should end up with 9 as we are almost finished. So I'll let you know what I have in them when I get done.

Nice looking cradle Steve. Good work. I took one of the brackets down to get cast. I'm getting them cast in aluminum, brass was through the roof.

Hi Don, I was going to originally make up the whole door mechanism, but instead bought one from leo. Except the ones leo sells are for the M4 or M16A2 short doors. So I had these rods made up so I can finish up on the door.

I had quotes from a local guy here by me to do the all the different cast pcs in brass and it wasn't that bad. If I remember right it would have come out at about $25.00 for each pc, but I got frustrated trying to get some of the other pcs made so I abandoned the project.

I did have some extra pins made if you need some. At this time I don't know how much they cost me yet.

How's the winch PTO shaft coming along ?

Just wish it would warm up so I can get some of that repro armor bolted on !

Hi Phil, Didn't get a chance to do anything on the shaft yet. Looks like I will have some time this week to see what I can get done on it.

Put up some pics of your HT progress!

Warm weather is only about 3 months away.

Hi Steve I ended up buying a take off from Rod. Your price on the pieces were better then mine. I was quoted 32.00 a piece. I also would be interested in a cradle if you plan on selling the extra's. I finished welding my frame back together so soon as I get all the under carriage work done I will be getting ready to start putting the armor on. I'm really looking forward to that

This week I got the new door latch installed, and Friday we had some open time in the shop after lunch so I got a little help on a project.



Changing bogies is never a fun job when the don't want to come off the hub. So having my two guys from my shop help was great. John and I worked on changing the bogies off the hubs and I had Darcy weld up and turn back down one of the cross shafts that mounts the bogie cluster to the leading arms. Should have probably done the bushings as well, but didn't have time to get them made and installed by the end of the day. So we went with what we could do easily.



I can assure you John is glad all of the bogies are done now.

It's not hard at all. I put one chain over the casting to hold up the crab. Just gotta make sure the chain isn't up against the cross bar.



Not a good picture, but you'll get the idea, And one chain back to the idler to give me a little more slack after I back the tension nut off. Put the chain through the idler wheel webbing and attach it to the hub.



Then pull the leading or trailing arms, and ta da!

Getting close to finishing the cradles. Just need to find the little shoulder screw that lock the pins in and they will be done.

Hi Steve,

What's the trick to getting those arms off the bogie support ?  I need to replace a couple of the bogie wheels and finally managed to get the 4 nuts off over the weekend but can only get the arms to move a few mm's but that's it ! Is there anything else holding them on, or is there a trick to getting them to slide off ??
