halftrack pintle sockets
« on: June 06, 2013, 09:28:01 PM »
I need the 3 cast pintle sockets to go on the brackets in the rear of the M2A1.  Anyone have some for sale? Is there a good (cheap) source of repro sockets or are originals (or repros) available from somewhere in Europe?  Thanks

Try Al Stiful in California. He makes some nice repro parts. I'll have to find his number. He also makes repro door parts and lots of other dodads for the halftrack.

I'm looking for those too.  BMG has them for 400 ea which i would like to avoid if possible.  There was a guy in Poland making inexpensive nice looking repros but the govt wont let him export them as they are classified as part of a weapons system.
If you get any leads please pass them on and i will do the same.
Thanks

Don is right on this one. I paid around $200 each for mine. He also has the brackets and the D38579 cradles. His contact info is:

I have some pintle hitch parts on a parts track. But I am not sure which parts you are talking about. If you could post a picture I will see if I have the parts you need. Henry

On a M2A1 halftrack there are three gun sockets, "pintle", to hold a gun cradle. One in the rear and one on either side. That is what we are talking about.

I just talked to Al Stiefel. Apparently the area code on his business card has changed. He current phone number is 530-533-2778. I also got his current prices on the socket and gun cradle and are:

Socket   $200 each or 3 for $550

Gun cradle  $150 each with chaines

He his currenly working on another project right now but should have these available for Tower Park in April. Andy, he will ship to Canada. ;D

Does anyone know of a source for the pintle socket for the .30 cal's.  I was able to find the yoke/cradle, but no luck on the sockets/  any leads would be great.  Al Steifel does not have any more.  also looking for decent looking resin .30 cal 1919's... The one on ebay just doesn't look to good... thanks. John
