i havent done any research yet on hinges. i think you you may have to go to the links section here and purchase them from a halftrack parts dealer. or you can post hinges wanted in the parts wanted section. if you do you may want to list some stuff you could trade, halftrack people always like trading.
there where french made hinges also that look a little different (welded i think) so you should ask about that if you purchase from a dealer.

here are some pics of some of the different style hinges that are out there. note the one on the far right is almost like 2 hinges welded together. im not sure where that one came from but its being sold as a halftrack hinge.

What is the one on the left, with no holes?

I have been talking with a friend about going to a machine shop and seeing how much it would cost to fabricate some.  Although it I did I would have the holes drilled, but not countersunk.  Would anyone else be interested in some?

the one on the left was used as is on the batwing armor. i think these where the blanks that most where made from.

Are the hinges that are used betweenthe upper and lower door the same as the one s that hold the door to the frame?

Yes, but you need to use flat head bolts in them compared to the normal oval head bolts or the heads will hit together when the side window armor is fully opened.

Also the laminated hinges were/ are sold by Gary as "french" hinges for the windshield armor.

thanks outsider, i hadn't heard that.
the hinges with the brass pins are made by Leo at http://www.vintagetractorsales.com/home.html gary was selling these also at his usual
 300  percent markup  ::)

Leo currently has about 30 nos hinges for sale at $35 each. he also has 450 more nos hinges coming.

if you are looking for hinges avoid the laminated french ones. they look nothing like the originals.

one thing i have seen is using angle iron for the inner hinges on the hood. this way you can use these 6 hinges in other places.

i try to avoid posting dealer links in the topics sections but this has been a hot topic lately.

Thank's for all the replys .My PC went hay wire and I lost the site . I have a M2A1 that uses 24 hinges . I have made some by welding 1/4"  tube to flat plates . They look almost like the original ones but take alot of time to make . Also the original hinges will cease up if they get wet and when you open them they will break so keep them dry or oil them .The angle holes are 45 degree that you can do with a big bit .The pins can be made from bolts that you can grind the heads to look round . There was some hinges on Ebay that went for $60

i was sent these pics of the reproduced hinges from Leo's tractors.
looks like the pin might not be centered. there machining isn't as good as it used to be or something. i think they are all like this. kind of rough looking to.
to use these you need the use a sander/grinder and plane down the high areas or they will bind. someone else had contacted me about this when they tried them on the upper door.

leo's on the left....... original on the right

Hi
I know its been awhile since the was posted but i have just enroled and would like to make a comment on the hinges in your photograph.
The hinge on the right is a British Army replacement hinge, normal the originals were removed and this type was fitted when the vehicles were overhaul in the 50s, these are a little stronger than the oringals and most h/ tracks you come across that are ex British Army will have them fitted.
The French did a similar thing when overhauling there h/tracks, they look very similar to the British hinges

Hi guys, this thread has been dormant quite a while. I need hinges and was wondering if anyone still new of a good source. I have tried the above links to the tractor place which does not work anymore. Have they changed their web site or gone out of business? Did anyone ever make any hinges or have any left for sale? Thanks

Mike
