Title: How far do you drive your half track?
Post by: spillmk1 on November 10, 2019, 06:10:13 PM: Just curious how far you drive your half tracks on paved roads?
I'd like to do several local events/parades without having to haul Bertha around.
Distances vary from a 10 mile round trip to around 30 miles.

Thoughts?

Post by: Outsider on November 10, 2019, 08:47:25 PM: Memorial day parade for me is 14 miles each way plus the parade. Been doing that for years. If I take it out for the 4th of July parade it is 8 miles each way plus the parade route.

Just make sure you are carrying plenty of gas!

Hehe....yep.
From what I've seen thus far, the 3mpg estimate is a BIT exaggerated!!

No problems just tired arms from steering haha and okay It takes a liter of gas for 1 kilometer

Less than 2-1/2 MPG? I was gonna use mine for a beer hauler - might have to pull a trailer to make it worth the trip!

Post by: autocar925 on November 11, 2019, 01:14:35 PM: Round trips of 30 miles on a regular basis. Mileage is 2 1/2 MPG cruising at 30 MPH, 1 mpg stop and go thru town. On a hot day, the tracks and bogies get really hot and sometimes transfer a little rubber from the tracks to the bogies.

Post by: Cleprechaun on November 15, 2019, 06:10:25 PM: I think I get around 3 mpg pulling a scraper box up and down my dirt road in 2nd gear. The job is about 6 - 10 miles. I’ve gotten it up to 40+ for short bursts and it is no fun at all at those speeds
