Title: Serial Number on frame
Post by: BillM3 on February 06, 2020, 02:39:26 PM
Does anyone know the exact location of the serial number on the frame? I know it's somewhere on the left side but there is so much paint on mine I don't know where to start looking for it.
Can someone give me a measurement to the exact location?

On the left side of the frame aft of the shock mount. Try at about 1 to 1-1/2” from the top of the frame and starting about 2” aft of the brake hose fitting.

Here's an example this is on my Autocar

And my other Autocar, I think their stamp was getting a little dull later in the war. :)

You are very welcome. If you have a Diamond T they stamped the numbers very lightly so it may still be difficult to see and read, might take a wire brush or even sand blasting to see it.

Mine is a White, but I guess they stamped them at the same place as the Autocar and Diamond T ones right?

Yes, same location. If it's a White, yours will be a 6-digit number starting with a 2.

Okay I started scratching the paint of the frame where the serial number is located and I did find a number but it is really hard to see the numbers and I only can see 5 and maybe another one that used to be in front of the first one. But I think that part of the frame had a lot of rust on at one point because it is hard to determine what numbers they are. But at least I found something, thanks everybody for telling me where to start looking for it.
