Title: Just purchased an M2
Post by: Tom @ Snake River on December 20, 2011, 12:01:26 AM
I am a new member to this forum.   Just purchased a nice cab & chassis M2, will have to lean on you guys for info to complete the entire rear end.
It is winter here by Yellowstone Park, so the M2 will sit in the shed of the previous owner.   I am working on a 1946 Dodge WDX Power Wagon.

Hey Tom,
Lots of good info here. I may have a few of the parts you need, but anything big and simple is better built out by you as the shipping would kill you.

Looks like a resto was started by the previous owner?

Steve

BTW. Nice looking vehicles!

Nice unit, Tom you might also want to get on the G503 forum, lots of good info over there too. Good looking command car! I've got 1/2 of one also. I'm down to the frame on my M3.

The 1/2 ton command car was cut in half.    I got the front end locally and bought the rear end from Hobie's in Oregon.     You can see the seam just above the back of the battery box.

I have a lot of soft stuff, now I want to play with the big boys in armor.

I found a command car here locally that they added a hard top to the cab area. Then they cut 8" off the top the body all the way around including the tail gate. After that they took some steel and welded in the back seat door cut outs so they had a pick up truck. Thought about buying it to restore, but I didn't think there was enough left to do that with. I figured by the time I got done restoring it my halftrack would look like a cheap project. :o

Tom where in Oregon is Hobie? Is it a wreaking yard? Do they have more dodges? Just curious as I need to find a body for my command car.

Ya, the command car above looks a little far gone.
To study Dodge command cars, you need to hang out at www.dodgepowerwagon.com and its links to other various sites.
       Which body do you need, a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton ? ? ?   Where are you located ? ? ?
I do not have any good info for Blake Hobi in Oregon.   He was always a little spendy.

Hi Tom,  I'm over in the valley (Eugene) I have a 1/2 ton. I did have a body located over in central Oregon. I hope it is still there. Ran a little short of cash this summer. That half track has needs! I'm trying to concentrate on the halftrack, but sometimes you have to buy parts when the opportunity presents it's self.

Hobi posted an ad on a Dodge forum.     He may be in Roseburg OR, and his email is Blakehobi@msn.com
I do have a body here in eastern Idaho, but it is cut in half.  The front end is in real good shape, motor and all, and the back end is rough.    Price might be $1,000.00

Hey Tom, the guy still had the body over in Eastern Oregon so I got it tied up. My front half is in pretty good shape. here is a picture. Although I think we are getting off the half track thread.
