Title: My M2A1 Halftrack Improvements
Post by: steve1973 on April 05, 2014, 03:40:11 AM
Well, I thought I would post everything I have done to ma M2A1 halftrack thus far. Most of my postings in what I call halftrack improvements that I have done over on the G503 site so I have compiled a list of links to those posts. Unlike many of you who are doing a frame off resteration, all of which are doing a fantastic job, I'm doing mine in baby steps. But I am learning a lot from Don and his restoration over the past 3+ years that includes what to do and what not to do. Thanks Don. ;D I try and plan my projects for winter so I can have fun in the summer. Every one on this site and the other have been very helpful over the years and I wouldn't be where I am today if it were not for you! Thanks! Got to love the computer and internet for that! Also, want to thank steve-0 for this site. It has been a big help along the way.

 Anyway, here is the list.

After the convention last summer I decided to take the rear bumpers off and repair some bad spots in them. This also gave me the opertunity to sandblast and paint them. I just finished installing them yesterday along with new mud flaps I got from SOS MV. The afternood was nice so I took the track for a spin before heading home. ;D I have only one week left to get the track ready for Tower Park.

Steve,
I just got a set of mudflaps from Beechwood, and they also included some brads and washers. How exactly do theses install behind the bumper. Should there be a metal plate that you "rivet" to the mudflap and then bolt up?
Thanks,
Mark

So the mud flaps do not have mounting holes already in them. the way my bumpers are there is a 3/16-1/4" gap that the mud flaps go into. I held the mud flaps in place and marked the holes. I then removed the mud flaps and punched holes using a punch set I got from Harbor Freight. I then installed the mud flaps and used some fender washers to make a tight fit.  We did Zelda the same way. Hope this helps.
