What are these holes for?

On our M2 Lucky 13 (which looks to be later converted to an M2A1) there are two holes on the right/passenger side of the dash. The holes look to be original based on the quality of the cut, but I haven't seen any pictures showing anything installed here. They look to be right where the data plate would have been. Any ideas?

There is a burr around the holes on the back side in your picture. So that would make them a later addition.
