Andy, Why would you do that? They will only scratch the paint all up. Plus all the time spent putting them on and taking them off, back and forth, back and forth.

It was a thought as to a way of compiling with road rules but ease of removing all non stock stuff for shows etc. As for the magnet base a thin layer of soft material would work.

I was only thinking, hadn't even got to that stage yet  ;)
