Halftrack M3 year of manufacture

my White Halftrack M3A2 has the number (Frame)M3-27493, I seek the Year.

Holy cr@p!  That's got to be rare!  I didn't think we lend-leased to the Chinese, but that's what it looks like.

WOW! That is cool. I think it was made in 1942.

i started thinking that i have never seen and m3a2 half-track so i googled it.

T29/M3A2 – Developed in 1943 to combine features such that existing M2 and M3 production could be switched to a common vehicle. Came at a time where the need for additional half tracks turned out to be not as great as projected. The M3A2 was, therefore, not produced.

We gave several thousands of tonns of equipment to the Chinese who held most of it back for there own civil war.

A couple of the halftracks books have mentioned that some M3A1's were rebuilt into what is basically an M3A2 configuration post war. I notice there is a second serial number on the data tag that shows a different M3 serial number that what you mentioned was on the frame. Both look like Autocar serial numbers. I wonder if 35 2 1 is a date? If that writing is Japanese I think that corresponds to Feb. 1 1960.
