re-run of new armor bolts, any interest?
« on: January 05, 2015, 08:18:06 AM »
I've been asked by a lot of people lately if I would do another run of armor bolts so I'm putting this out to see who is interested. The order will be for 50,000 of the 1" length armor bolt. The prices will not be the same as before as metal has gone up in price. I'm guessing it will be $.50 per bolt. These are new bolts. No cleaning, re threading necessary. Let me know if you are interested. I put in for a request today and will post results by end of the week. For those who are new to halftracks it takes about 1000 bolts to put a halftrack together.

Put me down for 2,500 bolts. That'll take care of 5% of the order.

I am in for a few more say 2000. But I think we really need longer bolts. If we made a 1/4 or 1/2 longer they could always be cut down. But the short never grow no matter how much she rubs it. :'(

I could use some if they were 1 3/8" long or so. Does this manufactuter make nuts also? I would take 750 White style at a reasonable price.

I have to agree with Kevin, longer bolts would be better.  I'm interested in 500 of them if they are 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long.

I would be in for 200 1-1/4" long bolts.   I have plenty of the 1" left from your previous run.

UPDATE 1-12-15

There is enough interest to proceed with a new run. I had a meeting with my supplier and here is the news:

Yes, the price will be slightly higher than the previous run.
- I will be getting 50K of the 1 inch size
- and 50K of the 1-1/4 inch size.
I get a slight price brake from that. The bolts will be under $.50 each. That is the good news.

The bad news is that I'm dealing with a new mill and will have to start over with specs. and production samples like the prior run. I was hoping to avoid this. So, the estimated time of product delivery is 6 months, sometime in June or early July. This will happen and I will keep everyone informed. Once the details are finalized I will post prices for each bolt size. Until then be patient.

Thanks,
Steve A.

Sounds good Steve.  I'm sure I'm with the majority that don't mind a short wait for a quality product that meets specs and looks like the original.

Also, thanks for doing the two different lengths.  I'm sure it will broaden the interest base and help you move them.  Kudos to your efforts....
