White armor nuts

Anyone have a good (cheap) source of nuts? A local manufacturer has offered to make them for .60 cents each for 50,000 of them, seems kind of high priced, maybe not. They would look original and be grade 5. Any interest at this price? They said 6 week lead time. This would be .60 plus shipping, I assume I could ship in a flat rate box.

That is actually a good retail price but not wholsale. Remember, each maker had their own nut style. That is one reason I didn't get any made as each batch would be 50K in quantity. I could see the White nuts selling out as they were used on scoutcars to. Currently there are two or three people making the nuts with an average cost of $.80 each. Those include Steve Verberg (Outsider), Gary and I know ther is someone else but I can't remember the name.

Are the nuts that are offering actual lock nuts? That would make a big difference. Most the repros are simply nuts.

These would not be lock nuts, don't really see a need for it the way these machines will be used.

The nuts that are reproduced are not lock nuts so it is important to use some sort of lock-tite on them. If not they will come loose with all the vibration the halftrack makes.

Both my White and Autocar / Diamond T nuts are sold out and I don't figure on having any more made.

OK, Thanks Steve for replying.
I'll start chasing NOS ones.
They seem to be around.

Last lot I saw was $3 each for NOS nuts. There has to be reproductions somewhere. Any idea for large quantities?

There are currently no one making any of the nuts for the halftrack that I know of. I talked to Kevin Lockwood about this and am working with him to change that. If all works out we will have the White and Autocar/Diamond-T nuts available again. Granted, we are in the research and planning stages of this project. Just like the armor bolts I had made it will take a year or two for this to be a reality. I'm currently waiting for some NOS samples from Kevin to send to the manufacturer for a quote.

When I started this thread the .60 cent price I listed was retail, had no one interested. With the increase in steel prices it would be a little more now. I still need a set but do not want to wait years for them, will just use plain nuts. If there is interest in them I can check into it again.

I have’t used them yet but the best I could do until exact repros are made again.
