Convert a '35-'36 Ford speedometer to halftrack?
« on: September 18, 2022, 10:30:52 AM »
Anyone try to convert a Ford speedometer to halftrack? Ford used 3 manufacturers, one was Stewart Warner and they all 3 interchange (in the cars anyway). Would need the face and the needle changed to look correct and would need recalibrated if you wanted it to read correctly as the Ford is a 100-mph speedometer, odometer would be OK I think. Any thoughts?

Anything is possible with enough money, skill and tooling. I modified a speedo out of a REO. It is the same except that it didnt have the trip odometer and the needle was different. I removed the bezel and painted the face silver and applied a new decal. Then i modified the needle to look more like the White style. Reinstallong the bezel will be the hard part. I plan to make a wood buck to place it in then stick it on my lathe and use a roller to fould the lip.The REO gauge was NOS and cost me $100 on ebay vs a $1000 for a White.
