halftracks without tracks

it was common when a track broke on a farm halftrack to just move the rear diff back and put tires on it. i have one like that.

here are a couple done by the military

that top one looks more like an m5H6 international truck. fenders and headlight guards at least.

Interesting...but I still prefer them with tracks.  But then again, when and if the supply of tracks disappears at least there is an option.

Looks like they used the running gear from a deuce 1/2 I too wonder if one of these will show up one of these days. ???

The top photo is not a halftrack at all, but a Russian armored 6x6 called the BTR-152. It is an armored personnel carrier that was used by Russia and all her buddies into the cold war. When I saw the photo, I knew I had saw one, then it hit me, as a young Marine grunt, I was trained to take them out.

ya i was doing some searches and it was listed as a halftrack but its not. on my second post i posted a link to an m5 truck i had, it looks like the same fenders.

i wonder if any survived. its one of those things you would have to keep as is with the rear tires if you ever found one.
