Hood latch felt replacement
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:31:13 PM »
Has anyone come up with a good solution for putting on new felt bumpers on the hood latches? It's the round felt that is riveted on the latch and pushes on the side of the hood.

Take a look at this part of our thread.  We used leather.

McMaster Carr sells all different densities and colors of felt. It could be machined and riveted on just like the originals.

Mine had leather bumpers.  I stopped by Goodwill and bought a leather belt for 50 cents and punched them out using the same gasket punch set pictured above.  I held them on with brass rivets.  I did have to counterbore the center so the rivet head would sit below the surface though.
