Footman loops
« on: November 05, 2013, 10:42:57 PM »
Hey Guys- How are the footman loops attached to the rear armor and doors?
I have seen both screws and rivets.
Thanks-Michael

I have an M16 upper window, no holes had to weld them on. On my M2 the loops were riveted to the fender. But I will bolt them to the armor. If you do bolt them make sure you use a slotted head screw and regular nuts, not lock nuts and lock washers not nylocks.

The 2 1/4" footman loops are available from armysurpluswarehouse.com for about $10 per dozen.

Anybody know the total number of footman loops needed on a M3A1?  Are they all 2-1/4?

Thanks,

Thanks steve I ordered a dozen to check out and they look good. Couldn't bring myself to pay eBay prices.

dwhite, If my count is correct (did it in my head) there are 26 on a M3. Fenders are different, and I don't remember off hand if the pioneer tools are the same or not.

Pioneer tools are bigger (these are the only ones I'm still missing) but the ones Steve recommends fitted on all the side & rear armor on my M2.

Looks like the pioneer and fender footman loops are both 3" on-center.  I counted the holes on my track and I came up with a count of 11 needed for the longer footman loops.  DW

I ordered a dozen from army surplus warehouse. They look good.  Haven't checked yet to see if the center spacing is correct

What size are the ones for the tripod holder on the rear wall of a M2? Are they the same size as the ones on the fenders?
Thanks-Michael
