i like the belden universal plug wire sets sold at napa. part number 700169 they have the right look to them (plain black). you have to cut them to length and crimp the ends on but you get a perfect looking fit. they also have a universal coil that has an internal resistor which is nice.

Thanks,

next time im there i will get the number. if you go into napa and ask for the universal coil with the internal resistor they will have a standard and a premium, they are the exact same coil just in a different box.

i picked up a coil from carquest for $20 napa's price was 30 something.
coil part number = RIG 26321
this does not require an external resistor

Steve,

My plug wires came today from NAPA (part number 700169) and thought I'd just mention that the ones I have are dark blue with white writing rather than plain black. I'm not bothered by the color as I'm not that much of a purist under the hood (too many external parts still to find to worry about under the hood looks !) but thought I'd mention it in case there are folk who prefer the black and NAPA have changed their sources recently.

Thanks for the all great part references as they're a 'god send' for a HT novice like me.

Phil.

I have been using spark plug wires purchased from Tractor supply. They sell univeral sets that you cut to length, plain black with copper core.

Hey guys, I just finished the resto last fall, and replaced all the wiring. I dont remember if or where the coil resistor is, or if i even used one. On that, I have a french surplus engine that came with a coil, and I dont know if its internal or ext resistor. Where and what does the resistor look like?

There is no resistor for the ignition. Just the coil.

Thanks Steve, so the coil has an internal resistor from the factory?
