More progress

Finally got around to pulling off the rest of the copped up rear bed. It's a shame most of the rear track armor only had a foot copped off. The frame only the last 6 inches. Have a donor piece for the frame will have a friend do that welding. Plan on pulling off the idler shafts anyone have any hints. Have to pick up a socket for the inside nuts.the good thing is not much more has to be pulled of or cleaned. Mybe by the end of the summer I'll be ready for a rear floor from outsider..

I pulled my rear posts out and they were stubborn. I used a combination of heat, a big hammer and a 10 ton bottle jack. I would have preferred a porta power, you will need the stubby attachment. I started to push them out of both mounts on the frame, inner and outer. It was easier to unbolt the outer and just push them out of the inner and work with the outer later. They do go back together much easier.

Finally have the rear frame somewhat back together. Will have a friend come over and burn the pieces in. I can weld ok but I'll have someone who knows what he's doing do the important stuff.

Looks good, I have to do the same on critical parts. I can melt metal but that's about it . I see you removed the rear idler posts too.

Yes I figured while I'm in there might as well get everything set for an easier time later.

Finally welded the last six inches on and bolted crossmember and mounts into place. Feels good to have the frame whole again, another off the check list started years ago. Have to install idler pivot shafts and they are with in a couple of thousands of each other the next problem is the casting on the left side is worn about 80 thousands out so its like a sausage in a hallway deal. What have you guys done. Gone new or just have it rebushed. Was also able to pick up a used bumper assembly so now I'm just going to use the whole asembly and sell the etentios I pick up off of Gary. They be in the sale section. Thanks guy.

I think I posted in the past three schematics for halftracks. Also, in the Halftrack Base Shop Data Book,  the last section is on electrical and has some great drawings on wiring the dash.

That looks like a nice bumper. I had my castings bored and bushed, they were egg shaped.  I can't remember how much, but my shafts were a little worn so I also had my shafts turned down just to true everything up.

Got around to getting the old front roller bumper of so no more frame sections to clean and paint.front radiator armor had a hole cut where the winch shaft went though thanks steve for posting measurements so I could drill and patch the armor.have left over roller bumper parts that aren't in great shape but if you could use them let me know.

little information:
there is not a steel plate between the spring supports the extension and winch frame





or it is a difference between small and large springs ??

I know thanks though prestone. The gusset fro the winch bumper was between there. Will trim and cut it when I reinstall the frame extensions. Lots of rivets there no fun.
