Halftrack rear floor identification
« on: May 09, 2015, 02:18:17 PM »
I think this might be part of the M15A1 floor under the 37mm cannon. It is 44 5/8" wide and about 77" long. It has slotted holes down each side that line up with the holes in the rear body support brackets riveted to the outside of the halftrack frame. It has a raised edge down each side with holes that line up with the vertical track armor bolt holes. The plate itself is 1/4" but I can't tell if it is armor, don't see an H number.

It was in with a big pile of loose halftrack parts I bought. There is a second part that goes in front of it that the gas tank sits on sideways behind the cab.

Nice find. Try hitting both sides with a center punch to see if one side is hardened. It would make a good templet for repo plans too

I doubt a piece like that would be hardened as it would tend to crack faster. I would talk to Mike to see if it is similar to what he has under his cannon.

Good point Steve I doubt it is armored.

I have the rest of this floor now, all 3 pieces are 44 5/8" wide. Any idea if this is all M15 stuff? I'm thinking the fuel tank mounts on the piece in the middle so these are probably not lined up in order. Somebody out there must need this stuff. :)

For what it's worth I bolted it to a halftrack frame and it was a perfect fit. I think it is from an Israeli halftrack rebuild.
