M13,M16,M16A2 and M16A1 configurations

M13,M16,M16A2 and M16A1 configurations:
Thought I would start a thread showing photos, etc. relating to the different configurations and modifications spanning the service life of the carriage motor, multiple gun.
I will try to add some photos asap and ask you all to do the same. i.e. Tool holders, radio mounts, add-on tie downs/footman loops, gun mounts and shields. Even azimuth rings for indirect fire!

I have an M16 ,( A1 or A2 still not settled) . I started to look for numbers today. on the drivers side I found nothing at all when sanding the paint down. on the passenger side found a circle with what appeared to be a "V" and a vertical "arrow " in the center of the "V"  I must have sanded too hard perhaps but the first numbers never came up but the last 4 were .......3 ( or 8 ) then 8 84. the last two (84)numbers were over the hood handle so they were smaller numbers...first time I've seen that. the MFG  # is 294514.There was no Ordnance number and note the plate says Army ordnance Dept.  Steve looked it up and found it was built in Jan 1944. does anyone have an idea what the hood number might have been originally?

How does the rear armor fold down with the rear door there?

they raise the quad up so there is no need to fold down the armor. the fold down armor is welded in the up position.

this is the best pic of the rear boxes i have found.

does anyone know what the hole up and to the left of the right rear tail light was for on the m16A2?

Looking at the picture for the hood numbers its pretty clear the last four numbers are 3884. The first number is 4 because that was the first number on all halftracks. and it is a seven digit number, all the halftracks that I have seen so far start with 40. So I would assume your hood number would be  40?3884. The only number in question should be the third number. and there are only ten possibilities left.

 Just curious what is the frame number?

 Is it the same as the manufacturers number on the tag?

yes, the frame number and the mfg number on the data plate match. thanks for the info on the numbers, I'm almost there. I'm going to try some weird lighting techniques to see it anything else comes up.
     Also,here are some more pictures I found in my search for putting a rear door on my own vehicle.. note the one with the bullet holes in the back and that while it has the upgraded pioneer kit ( shovel end bracket on the running board vs the side)like an A2 it doesn't have a rear door.

That hole is on both M16A1's and A2's with the M45F Quadmount with interphone system. The BC-1362 was mounted below the rear box and the communication wire went from the BC-1362 box through the hole up into the commutator located in the base ring of the Quadmount. Here's a photo of mine before installing the rear boxes so you get a better look at it. I'm not making the hole until I acquire the correct cable.

Pulled this off a group I belong to on facebook, I guess it's a couple hours north of me. Looks to be an M16, may have started out as something else.

Looks like original m16 serial number would help
I believe all m16 were winch models a1 could be either?

 m16's where either roller or winch.
when they converted to m16A2 they only converted winch models.
im not sure about the  M16A1's
