relining your brake shoes
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:31:49 PM »
if you buy brake shoe linings from a halftrack parts supplier you will be buying asbestos. i dont even know if its legal to sell or install those anymore. plus most shops wont install them for you.
i have found linings that should work great and you will be getting a better product that wont kill you.

original linings for the rear  1/4" thick 3 1/2" wide
original linings for the front 1/4" thick 2 1/4" wide

part number rear
FRITEC 30596    specs= 1/4" thick 3 1/2" wide,  19.160 long  not pre-drilled
Carlisle MS-21   specs= 1/4" thick 3 1/2" wide not pre-drilled

part numbers front
FRITEC 30587    specs= 1/4" thick 2 1/4" wide,  16.880 long not pre-drilled
Carlisle  MS-2   specs= 1/4" thick 2 1/4" wide not pre-drilled

if your drums are worn you can install thicker linings as follows

part number
30594 FRITEC   specs= 5/16 thick 3 1/2" wide not pre-drilled

some of these part numbers where supplied by Capital Clutch and Brake in sacramento.
they stock these parts and can reline your shoes if you are in the area.

if you do a google search for the FRITEC number you should find sources for purchase.
you may just let your brake lining shop deal with this though.
